SEE WHAT BILL AND OTHERS HAVE TO SAY
“At the age of 64, in 2002, I had the misfortune of suffering an MI (heart attack), but fortunately I was able to have an angioplasty two weeks later and had a stent fitted. This cured me physically, but not mentally, I suffered bouts of anxiety, worrying about how much physical activity I was still able to do, ie how much shopping should I carry, should I lift suitcases when on holiday. Unfortunately there was no-one who could give me any answers other than telling me that my body would let me know if I was overdoing things. This did not help much.
The feelings of anxiety continued all through the six weeks rehab programme at the hospital, then on the last week I was introduced to a Phase IV instructor. She came took the class and then told us all about Phase IV. Phase IV is individually tailored to each person, you are given a one to one induction and your programme is worked out on your capabilities, this gives you a lot more confidence. Now many years on, I go three times a week, all the anxiety had gone. Lifting is no problem, in fact I seldom think about it. I am now into lifting weights, and am surprised as to how much I can still lift and most importantly is how good I feel.”
